On August 4, 1947, the United Gold Coast Convention (UGCC) was founded in Saltpond at Canaan Lodge. It was the first nationalist movement in the Gold Coast and was founded with the aim of self-government in the shortest possible time. The founding members included Paa Grant, William Ofori-Atta, J.B Danquah, R. A. Awoonor-Williams, Robert Samuel Blay, Edward Akufo-Addo, and Emmanuel Obetsebi-Lamptey. Kwame Nkrumah joined the party in December 1947. In 1948, six members of the UGCC-Edward Akufo Addo, Ebenezer Ako Adjei, William Ofori Atta, J.B. Danquah, Kwame Nkrumah and Emmanuel Obetsibi Lamptey, were jailed following the Accra Riots as the colonial government believed they were involved in orchestrating the riots. These men are known as the Big Six. A small town just outside of Windenburg has transformed in preparation of Founders Day! Children play in the streets and stores decorate their balconies with festive banners all in celebration of the founding and establishment of their quiet little town!
I just submitted this holiday scene into @teanmoon ‘s contest within her Sims of History Discord server and I just wanted to share it with y'all! Even though there are a lot of historical inaccuracies in these pictures I still like it a lot lol. I chose to depict a small town celebrating Founders Day! And yes I built a bunch of empty houses in order to make a town square.
