I always wonder. A few friends of mine went from music ed to therapy as soon as they could (my school doesn’t offer therapy).

Gawtcha. Yeah, it's really interesting to hear how people got into MT. So many different stories. And I've seen a lot of people who didn't quite know what it was until they were actually music students and heard more about it in their classes/from their peers. So many of my friends are just now switching into the major; it's a little overwhelming.

How'd you get into music therapy?

I volunteered at a preschool for years and when I was talking to a supervisor about my college plans once (which at the time were more, music ed? journalism? English/language arts teacher?) she suggested I look into music therapy, since I was in band and good with kids and whatnot. I started reading more about it and never looked back on anything else. Now I'm at Florida State for it and really happy with that decision.
