4C’s of Context Video
We went over time, but I hope that isn’t an issue, as we had a lot of ground to cover.
Four C’s
One point made in the ‘Customers’ video was the point about what a person values when entering the Nemesis Club. At the heart of all our ideation and strategizing, I think that value is what should be motivating everyone’s efforts. Given what Eric said about their goals for providing the best experiences possible for their customers, I think value should primarily influence the project.
Another excellent point was made by the ‘Context’ group, who illustrated with a Venn diagram that the needs of both the Nemesis Club and the Soda Jerk need to be met by whatever solutions we reach. While the Nemesis Club is our primary focus for this project, the Soda Jerk is a highly successful and independent business in its own right, so the ideas we propose cannot benefit one at the expense of the other.
A final point was given by the ‘Company’ group, who remarked that the Nemesis Club and Soda Jerk do not simply seek to be operable, or successful, or even exceptional. They seek to be the best, and mediocre ideas sill not suffice.
From Page to Stage - The 4 C's
Codes -
Codes of Practice are written guidelines issued by an official body or a professional association to its members to help them comply with ethical standards. Basically, if you are on location, you need permission from the owners to use it. As well as this, whoever may be disturbed by the filming process needs to be warned so that they know. You also need to make sure the police and emergency services have been forewarned that you are filming. You need to tell them where, when, and what. Otherwise, they may get a phone call saying somebody had jumped off of a roof and hurry there only to find out that it was a stunt coordinator. However, in the case of a real emergency, you must make sure that nothing can obstruct the emergency services. They are always allowed to interrupt filming.
Contracts -
Contracts are a written or spoken agreement that is required by law. Contracts are an agreed arrangement made between two or more parties. Copyright -
Copyright is form of protection to the authors' 'original works'. However, copyright does not protect ideas. It only protects the original expression of the idea. To sum it up, there are many films and books based on the classic boy meets girl theme in which the girl’s parents disapprove of boy and after many tears, true love finally triumphs. This theme cannot be monopolised, but ‘original works’ to it can, like copyright over ‘Romeo and Juliet’, to be able to use this piece of work you have to pay for the copyrights, but to use this idea, it's free. The same can be said of all other works as well as your own; if someone takes your work and tries to pass it off as their own you can sue them for copyright. Basically, copyright is the legal rights to allow or disallow others to use something that belongs to the author/filmmaker or musician. Censorship - Censorship is officially examining books, movies, etc. and hiding or taking out the unacceptable parts. To explain further, it is where anything considered offensive, harmful or sensitive to the public can be removed. This can both be good and bad, if you are watching the TV with your children, you wouldn’t want them seeing a dead body reported on the news, so they wouldn’t show it until past 9 o’clock after the watershed where you expect that kind of viewing. TV shows are the same with swear words etc. On the other hand, censoring can hide truths people like in the government do not want us to know, like the WikiLeaks, the secret service tried very hard to keep all of that censored.
