Idiot? Foolish? Was he just called those things? He supposes he is rather foolish but an idiot he is not. The insult holds no weight over the fujin, he’s been mocked at and called far worse by other yokai, and wouldn’t he be the idiot then had he done nothing and watched in indifference as the child was harmed? Ichimokuren thinks so.

The heavy sinking feeling in his belly eases into light numbness and whilst he’s being scolded he carefully and slowly holds his hand out, nimble crimson dipped fingers uncurl to show the object of malice that pierced his gut. Yes, before the child healed his wound Ren retrieved the foreign object that lay in his open palm.

“Your worries are misplaced, I can’t be killed so easily.” He then takes the child’s hand in his and withdraws it from the wound. His touch firm but cautiously kind, Ren did not stop them out of offense he simply thought there was no need to exert one’s own energy for himself. “That was a brave thing to do but you should be more aware of the dangers. Thank you though.. for the aid.”
