When I worked at the pet store in Brooklyn we had to listen to CBS fm everyday. I did this for 3 years and never got sick of it. When this Golden Oldies channel switched to Jack fm (a few jobs later), it was a severe blow to my radio options at the time. CBS came back a few years ago, kicking off with the Beach Boys, Do It Again. I was so excited! Here's the rub: CBS no longer plays '50s, they dabble in '60s, 70's, and '80s only. This station no longer represents the heyday of Rock n Roll. With all the specific stations/shows out there on the internet, through digital cable, satellite radio, etc. the music of the time isn't lost, but it has been pushed into a smaller category. I miss Cousin Brucie and the feel of true Rock n Roll oldies. Since I've moved again and have found Fox Oldies (98.9 fm), a comfort zone of doo-wop to 10CC has come to roost in my heart for as long as it will last. This station puts emphasis on not only the represented time period, but the history and quality of the music the Golden Age of Rock n Roll has to offer. On the weekends at night they even air radio shows. I believe it is better than what I once thought was the best.
