I think maybe I misunderstood the prompt lol. Changing to 🌼 and Merlin!
(the meme)
the fic where a small Merlin does in fact have to defend his mother from adultery charges in a 5th or 6th century Demetae court

He's old enough that the baby blues have darkened to an unnatural violet, but young enough that steadily walking is not actually a reliable prospect yet. Not the greatest legal counsel there's ever been.
Also, Emrys's strategy for getting himself and his mother off the hook hinges heavily on reciprocal blackmail. He probably also loses points for that.
In his defense, the whole thing is bullshit anyway. And a whole assortment of other words he shouldn't know yet, hastily shuffled away from his sight by a future version of him who's just as baffled that this is happening at all. I thought the future future me was the one I'd wind up seeing is a bemused murmur somewhere at the edge of Emrys's hearing. Bright lights from another time catch the corner of his vision, and he can't resist grabbing for them with hands suddenly much smaller than he thinks they should be.
Of course he grabs nothing. Is he really this tiny?
(In another time and place, they will say that he lived backward, that he was an old man from the day he was born. They're not wholly wrong.)
