Honestly though, I wouldn't listen if its that destructive to your confidence. Besides anatomy isn't the whole part of a character design, and your style is your own, and I think it's great. If you look at popular cartoon or comic characters through out time, very few of them have a realistic or proportional anatomy. All I do know, for sure is your art's fantastic, and you should have fun with character designs. ((Sorry if this came out as a bit of a rant))

You mentioned before that you hand sewed the bat heads. What technique do you use?

Just a straight stitch, I’m really fast at hand sewing now. And I draw little lines to make the pieces aligned... that’s a great help with small pieces and just any long straight piece like a gusset.
