I got two, for starters. People bringing in real-world and ooc-feeling things into RP that feels awkward, and this takes many forms.
My first exposure was someone’s warcry literally being ‘DIE BIGOT’ and then some, in a mini rp-war while on a scarlet character. Okay, yes, the Scarlet crusade are murderous zealots, uncompromising, corrupted, fools and ‘bigot’ is not a lie... but then someone jumps into this with twitter-quality dialogue, it felt heavily leaning on an ooc internet-debate beef rather than more established by what the scarlets did in-game, meta-knowledge included.
Like ‘Die B*tch’ and the like would have been objectively better lmao
Though stupidly irl insults, especially ridiculously offensive (carpet muncher, for instance), get no pass from me, either.
A gnome cussing more than Tony Soprano was really... awkward to encounter, too. Generous vulgar language feels too irl and looks to be also just unimaginative
This leads to another thing: people wanting to be oppressed so bad that they do things that force other RPers into the role of oppressor despite no lore back up for it and the other player obviously is not into it.
One situation was that this elf (it’s always an elf btw) in the Cathedral was complaining how the priests were racist to elves for not wanting to heal them--in top priority by the way-- which was entirely THEIR headcanon that suddenly was falling to my lap?
Like, fuck that, elf lady. You weren’t oppressed in that situation anyway, you were a Karen who was mad she wasn’t prioritized first in line.
Another example is from my RP partner. He had an elf accusing him of being racist for denying her word, as an elf, over another person’s word... when that other person was also an elf.
‘I'm literally taking the word of another elf over yours.'
LOL
(I'm a woc irl so I get a little passionate about certain things. Sometimes I want to get away from shit, especially when done poorly-- I stay in my lane and let people RP what they want, but it still doesn’t make it less of an annoyance to me.)
