If your OCs didn't have their canon relationships, who would be the runner ups for them? (IE the second choice if your romance didn't work out! Can be OC/OC or OC/Canon!)

Ninimel would probably have either died killing the archdemon because he had little reason to look for an alternative, or if he didn’t die he would have got back to his clan and likely died alone from the Blight years later as there wasn’t much else for him to do. He never had an interest in anyone else.

Faenil would have just gone back home to her father and probably married whomever was chosen for her. She never really had an interest in anyone.

Danica wouldn’t want to marry anyone - she would likely become a high-ranking officer in the army or a royal guard for King Alistair.Thane would have probably went and protected free mages and likely would have fallen in love with one sooner or later. Hopefully they would make it through and would probably have kids.

Hawke would have probably gone with Isabela. While the relationship wouldn’t have necessarily been as much about love, it would be passionate and fun - more along the lines of friends with benefits that just happened to be married.Spencer may have fallen for Merrill - or Fenris if his brother wasn’t with him. If Merrill he would have enjoyed her kindness and gifted it in return, always giving her support and acceptance no matter her decisions. If Fenris he would have taken care of the elf no matter the protests, always giving him understanding and knowing when it was important to be quiet. Fenris would likely have become very protective of him, seeing as the boy didn’t like fighting, and Spencer would have fallen for him.Kyne has a passing fancy for Bull, so maybe him? She does find his stature and build rather... enticing. They would probably tell a lot of really bad jokes and she would insist on being carried all the time and he would be the best to catch her while she climbed down from wherever. Akin probably wouldn’t mind because Bull has given him no reason to distrust him or think he’d hurt her. She also likes hanging out with the chargers. Akinlana would probably have had an interest in Josephine, and they spend enough time together that maybe he would fall for her, though unlikely. It would be more likely that he would work closely with Leliana when she became Divine, becoming not only a voice for elves but mages as well and it would keep him too busy to find anyone - if he didn’t die from the Blight (which I had forgotten he had gotten)Aviana in honesty? He may have developed an interest in Bull or Dorian. Dorian because he would have probably just wanted to help the man and the flirting would make him blush like a cherry and Dorian would probably be able to help Ryssel with her magic. Bull because those muscles... and he’s kind and warm and his jokes are hilarious but always leave him feeling a little dirty and he likes it - Ryssel really likes riding on Bull’s shoulders or ‘sparing’ with him. Damiana probably would be dead or made tranquil after being captured by the templars if Asaz didn’t save her. If Asaz did save her but they didn’t develop anything she probably would have left before they joined the Inquisition to be on her own again. If that didn’t happen then she probably would have taken an interest in Blackwall, with how gentlemanly he is and probably would have scolded him after the whole trial thing - not for his past but for the fact that he thought she would just be fine with him up and disappearing on her.Asaz might have fallen for Sera - would have had an interest in Cassandra but by game canon she wouldn’t get anywhere. Sera would have been enough to keep Asaz’s life interesting and they would probably cause a lot of trouble for everyone involved.

01. What does your character’s name mean? Did you pick it for the symbolism, or did you just like the way it sounded?

Thane:  (in Scotland) man, often the chief of a clan, who held land from a Scottish king and ranked with an earl's son. (in Anglo-Saxon England) a man who held land granted by the king or by a military nobleman, ranking between an ordinary freeman and a hereditary noble.

Honestly I just really liked the sound of it. It sounds like the name of a strong but gentle man who is a protector or guardian rather than a aggressor. 

02. What is one of your character’s biggest insecurities? Are they able to hide it easily or can others easily exploit this weakness?

His strength is certainly an insecurity of his surprisingly. He is a very gentle man but his power can sadly trump his want to comfort and care. While training and as a templar there was no time for careful touches and loving embraces, so he never learned how. This leads him to treating those he cares about as extra fragile for fear that, if he doesn’t, he’ll hurt them inadvertently. This does bother Morrigan who insists that shes not some porcelain doll.

If one were able to convince him that he had hurt those he cared about it would be simple to break him apart.

08. What is, perhaps, their biggest flaw? Are they aware of this or oblivious to it?

Thane’s biggest flaw is how set in his beliefs he gets. It takes a lot for him to ever change his mind on something and it has to come of his choosing. Arguing with him wins you nothing but an angry templar. Sadly he is not aware of this and has yet to make any moves to change it.

09. Do they have a favorite season? What about a favorite holiday?

He likes the fall with it’s colourful trees and the cool weather that’s nice for him in his armour. Templars never really celebrated anything, so until he’s had a chance to settle in and get invited to anything he doesn’t have a favorite holiday.

11. What is something that would make your character fly into a rage?

Witnessing any sort of injustice towards anyone. It’s worse if it’s committed by a templar. With how set he is about his beliefs and how black and white the world appears to him, any kind of injustice must be met with a swift hand or blade. He does not think and his blood boils at the sight.

12. Is there some particular talent, skill, or attribute that they simply could not give up?

Despite hating the templars he cannot give up the skills and talents he’s learned, mostly because he knows nothing else. While he dreads ever having to use his templar abilities on any mage he knows that he likely will have to if he wants to protect others. 

13. What are your character’s sleeping habits? Heavy or light sleeper? Blanket stealer? One that always rolls onto the floor? Pushes their lover onto the floor? Sleep talker or walker?

He’s a rather heavy sleeper when he manages to fall asleep. He seems to enjoy overworking himself and will stay up all night on watch, then all day for travel. So when he finally sleeps it’s hard to wake him up. Yet he can jolt right up into action if under attack, so it’s lead the others to wonder if he just ignores them till they leave then falls back to sleep. He doesn’t steal blankets as he has a naturally high body temperature and is more likely to wrap Morrigan in them then hug that so she can’t fight back. He doesn’t dream often but when he does he will mumble in his sleep.

17. Does your character have dreams of getting married and/or having children?

He does, even though he still doesn’t believe it would ever happen. After falling for Morrigan he certainly wishes she would marry him but she’s so far declined his proposals. She has kept his promise ring though, so it’s a start. Then with kids, he’d love to have a couple, nothing huge. When Morrigan leaves, telling her that she’s with child, he’s excited and heartbroken that he wasn’t allowed to be with them. It wouldn’t be till much later that he’d finally meet Kieran, immediately considering him his son and hoping to be like a father to the boy.

19. Would your character be the kind to get into fights? (physical or verbal) Would they be a good fighter or cave in rather easily?

Yes. Don’t talk down about anyone close to him or any specific group or else you’ll be on the ground before you see the punch coming. Verbally he’s not as talented and will likely resort to his fists in the event of a heated argument with a male.

21. What is one of your character’s biggest fears? How would they react when dealing with this fear?

Failing/losing those he cares the most about. If he were to ever lose Morrigan it would be the end of him - he wouldn’t fall on his sword but he would wish for death. Whenever the topic comes up in his mind he almost entirely shuts down and panics internally.

25. Is there something traumatic from your character’s past that greatly affects them even to this day?

While he doesn’t realise the effect it had on him, the lack of hesitation in his friends attack all those years ago at the Circle certainly did more than physical damage. It was truly then that he started fearing failure and losing those he cared for. To experience such betrayal he only blames himself and it’s made him paranoid about not being good enough and having the other’s turn on him too.

34. Does your character have favorite foods? (breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert, snacks, etc)

Honey. It was the one sweet thing that was always available at their Circle and he savoured it. Now out in the world he does enjoy many other kinds of sweets and prefers mild foods over spices, but if honey can be put on something it will be. 

35. Is your character afraid of death? If they got to choose how to die, how would they want to go? 

He doesn’t fear death, he’s afraid of what might happen to those he leaves behind. Selfish perhaps but he’s sworn himself to protect mages and there are those that rely on him. If he had to choose a way to go, he would choose to die knowing the people he cared for were safe. It doesn’t matter the manner of his death, be it protecting them or dying alone, suffering and bleeding. All that matters is his friends and family being safe.

38. What kind of weather does your character like? Cloudy skies, rainy days, sunshine, etc?

He prefers cool weather because his armour gets heavy and hot during the summer and when on long treks. Yet he loves the sun. Rain is refreshing but also a pain if it gets under his armour and into his tunic. When they get damp, similar to when he sweats in the heat, things rub funny and it’s all around uncomfortable.

42. Is there anything in your character’s past that they regret, haunts them, or they wish they could change?

He regrets his blind faith in the templars and the Chantry. His unquestioning acceptance of the prejudice and fear of magic and mages. He wishes he could go back and tell his younger self the truth. Tell him to stand up for the mages and try to change things. Then perhaps those he cared for wouldn’t have been put in danger or killed.

Random thing. 

Started a new character in Skyrim because I decided that I wanted to try playing more based on a character build (like a d&d character) rather than just running around doing any quest that comes up (though the character that does that is really just a scatterbrain that does what she finds interesting so I guess it fits). 

Anyway, he’s a Khajiit Bard, collects books, plays the flute and is scared of orcs. But the thing is, he is absolutely obsessed with apples - to the point that he is willing to steal them right in front of someone. The only one that can stop him is his travelling companion Uthgerd, whom he met in Whiterun while running away from an orc bandit he had angered. She defended him and he kinda clung to her so she agreed to adventure with him. 

His name is Stian Silvertongue and he plays upon his rather dullwitted appearance to fool people, despite their perception of Khajiit’s as thieves. 

I’ll probably draw him at a later date but I just wanted to write a little blurb about him... I’m very happy with him.
