current overwatch mood
‘genji is a weeb’ this and ‘hanzo is a weeb’ that, u idiots don’t realize. the only true weeb in the overwatch cast is moira
lucio is an honorable mention
not everyone derives value from playin overwatch but i’ve made some genuine friends through this game, both friends of friends irl (one of whom is now pregnant and almost at her due date! congrats!) and randos from the game itself (one of whom is now in remission from cancer that he had diagnosed while we were still playing more regularly. fighting!!)
not a lot of online games, much less FPSes, are about the actual gameplay but about the connections you make while you play & the ability to spend time with people who you can’t be with in person, and on a personal level, that’s where i derive the most value
i love hero gauntlet, it ends on the best possible note
play ovw w me
I kinda liked it when minor mistakes in translation happened in games, or funny glitches, and they were seen as an endearing sign of the humans behind the production (like that single dude who translated ff7 in two weeks) rather than a reason to shit on the people making games that I enjoy. I find it especially jarring now with the emphasis on treating gaming industry professionals like people, the push for more humane hours and labor expectations, and the instant vitriol directed at them the moment mistakes are made.
it kinda stands to reason that the expectation of perfection is a direct cause of the grueling hours expected from artists & designers behind AAA gaming companies best known for abusing and exploiting their employees?
in this market, it's a. timely releases, b. humane work conditions, c. perfect quality control (PICK TWO) and for people who pay so much lip service to b, there sure is a lot of shit being heaped on game designers occasionally being human
i went back thru my overwatch tag & ive met a lot of really cool people thru this game & seen a ton of genuinely delightful content and it’s nice to remember why i liked it so much in the first place while i wait for 🐐 meta to die
