This past weekend....

this past weekend was Free Press Summerfest in Houston. The festival you “dont want to miss.” Besides missing day 1 due to the rain, day 2 was unlike anything else I have ever experienced. I was able to catch Washed Out (who i have been waiting to see since i missed them the last time they were in Houston), Lauryn Hill (who was absolute perfection). Her voice was so effortless and her performance quality was natural. Her band and back up dancers were so much fun to watch, you couldn’t help but dance along with them. With her touch of reggae and her empowering words I found myself amazed by this woman. But the cherry on top of an amazing day was Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Alex Ebert was the ball of happy energy that radiated to the crowd. My jaw hurt so much at the end from smiling the whole time. I’ve been to a lot of shows but none quite like this. He started off by jumping off the stage into the crowd, dancing in the mud and then being crowd surfed back on to the stage. I cant say it enough but the energy coming from the crowd, the band, from Alex was enough to put you in the highest of spirits! As much requested by the crowd they performed Home and it was the best thing ever. Two girls were able to tell their story, one which referred to Alex as Jesus and the other said something that i will never forget… “Your music makes me fell like I was to ever fall in love, this is what it’s gonna feel like.” I had never cried at a concert before until that moment. My heart felt like it was going to explode from all the good feelings. All Love and Happiness. Sooooooo in conclusion, WHERE DO I SIGN UP TO BECOME A MAGNETIC ZERO!!! or Lauryn Hill’s backup dancer/singer.
