Original October 13, 1930 caption: "SOCIETY ARBITER WITH HER PET - AS SHE CONVALESCES IN SOUTH. Hot Springs, VA. Mrs. William K. Vanderbilt introduces her pet dog to the amenities of the public eye as the latter makes his bow before the news photographer's camera. Mrs. Vanderbilt may be seen wearing the bandage about her leg necessitated by the fracture she recently sustained in a fall. Beside the society arbiter is the wheelchair she has been obliged to use while taking treatments here."
