Once he’d been found at sea, the group of people that found him weren’t sure what to do with him. He was a child, of course, so they refused to do any harmful experiments on him. That hadn’t stopped them from doing slightly more than a normal human checkup on the merchild though. And then they did something odd. They decided to put him in an aquarium, for the public. At first there had been flashing lights everywhere and people staring at him through the thick glass. It was actually uncomfortable for him. To get away from that, he started hiding among the scenery pieces they placed in with him- the various plants and corals and even the fake ship they thought would be cute in the bottom of his tank. He only really came out when things got quieter, less children and cameras and visitors. There was, though, one man that seemed different. He didn’t have one of those small flashing cameras, and he even looked a bit different from the other people. So, Baruch peered out at the new visitor, slowly swimming out from behind a scenic piece.
