This apple cider in a slow cooker is made from scratch and is great for a party or a cozy get-together. When you mix different kinds of apples, orange slices, and warming spices together, you get a deliciously fragrant and flavorful cider that will fill your home with fall scents.
Ingredients: 12 apples, assorted varieties such as Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Fuji, cored and quartered. 1 orange, sliced. 4 cinnamon sticks. 1 tablespoon whole cloves. 1 tablespoon whole allspice. 1/2 cup brown sugar. 8 cups water.
Instructions: In a slow cooker, put the orange slices, cinnamon sticks, cloves, allspice, and brown sugar that have been cut into quarters. Put water on top of the things in the slow cooker. Put the lid on top and cook on low for 8 to 10 hours or high for 3 to 4 hours. To get more flavor out of the softened fruit in the slow cooker, mash it with a potato masher. You can use a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth to strain the mixture into a large pot or heat-safe container. If you want, you can serve it warm and top it with more cinnamon sticks or orange slices.
