I saw you two fanarts of Francis and found them very lovely. I was wondering why you think Francis seems to be gotten more popular? I also saw more art of her on Twitter

It's been a while since I posted anything for South Park, and it has been an even longer time since I drew those fanarts! At the time I drew them, Francis wasn't a super popular character, but if she's getting more popular now, then I do have a couple theories as to why.

Firstly, Francis is heavily associated with Jimmy, who has been somewhat of a fan favourite since his introduction, as such, a lot of people who draw Jimmy end up drawing Francis. This was very much my personal reasoning as to why I drew her!

Secondly, South Park has a cast so various that a lot of people take the time to draw as many of the characters as they can, interpreting the rather simplistic artstyle into their more complex ones. A lot of the characters associated with Jimmy tend to break the mold of South Parks usual artstyle to better illustrate their differences from the other characters, so a lot of people are drawn to these characters as such.

Lastly, a lot of people really like to draw more niche characters, since South Park has a plethora of them, and I'd consider Francis more niche.

I focus a lot on why people draw these characters, but I think art and the creation of fan content contribute heavily to a characters popularity and perception in the online fandom of South Park.
