Lenovo Triumphs in UK Appeal Against Ericsson Over Interim Patent License
Lenovo won a UK appeal on Friday, securing an interim license to use Ericsson's patents amid their global legal dispute over 4G and 5G technology. The Court of Appeal overturned a previous rejection, ruling that Ericsson failed to act in good faith by pursuing foreign claims despite Lenovo's willingness to accept UK-determined FRAND terms. Judge Richard Arnold stated that a willing licensor would grant an interim license, requiring Lenovo to pay a "nine-figure dollar sum." Lenovo hailed the decision as a victory for transparency and fairness in FRAND licensing.
