not 100% sure whether they will be part of the dr who universe(s) or who they wil be, but they’ve got their personalities sorted ;)

modding-notes:

both started from Serial Experiment Lain dolls that i had for more than 10yrs, like back when i first got into the hobby.

i swapped the bodies to @modernwizard because she likes the ninie bodies and i don’t.

one head had faded and the other had yellowed a scary amount. i repainted the yellowed one (because it was the paint on her face that had yellowed) and pinkened the faded one slightly.

they're both on SnapStar bodies. why?

i had got the AA SnapStar because i wanted one doll with that size head to wear the few CW wigs i've kept, and i really like the facemold and screening on the Dawn doll more than any LIV i had.

when i got the AA doll, the body coincidentally almost-matched the Lain head i'd painted... so i discovered i just really like this combination, and did the pale one the same way.

they wear clothes from bratz, MH, pinkie cooper dolls, and mr.z zootopia action figures. they wear shoes from only hearts club and MC2

the finished dolls are 20cm tall and fit best with the 10inch (1:7ish?) scale action figures (the ones i call Smallerverse)

Naoto Bokeh tests!

This month seems to be mostly about the oni dolls I have, not that I’m complaining!

Red Oni/Blue Oni. I figured this is a perfect time to actually be productive and assemble this red guy I’ve been working on for a while! I’ve been wanting a red oni forever to go with my blue oni, Naoto. Meet Rengoku! @glyndarling do you recognize the horns???

Three Dias.

The first shoot of 2020 is dedicated to my favorite sculpt, Soom Dia! Mafuyu, Ignéo, and Haru all crowded together and mostly behaved for a group pic. Mafuyu was the most well-behaved, but Haru will always be the favorite!

You think I’d learn by now not to just try on another doll’s item on a neglected doll just for shits and giggles after 5 years in the hobby, but you’d probably be wrong!!

I really adore the curly wig on Naoto, but he probably can’t keep it. I’ll have to find an alternative!! His old one is getting all ratty which is why I started all of this.

These girls need a lot of cleaning up. But I got the pair for a good price and Frankendollying is why I specifically chose dolls in need of serious TLC, so I would feel less guilty about basically completely changing their appearances. Part of me does feel a little twinge of guilt at knowing I'm taking a Tenney and a Saige apart for this project with the intent of turning them into different characters that don't resemble their origins in the first place. But the Bonnet Bees wouldn't stop buzzing, and these two were the closest I could find to the starting point for the envisioned results.

Well, that's only partly accurate. It didn't HAVE to be a Tenney. I just happened to want to swap her arms out with my mini for violin-holding purposes and figured I could use the rest of the doll with the swapped arms for one half of this custom set rather than buying a pair of Tenney arms for my mini AND a second doll and then having an extra pair of arms in my parts box.

I'm not telling who I'm making yet (if you know me from Discord, shush you please and thanks). This is also a long-term project; I really DO need to get all my historicals, my JLY, and my mini finished before I begin this project because it will be a labor-intensive one; dyeing, painting, repainting eyes, restyling hair, sewing clothes. I expect these two dolls alone to take the better part of a month. I probably won't begin them until late summer. I do have a loose deadline I want them done by, but it's somewhat flexible. Finishing them up anytime before Christmas would be fine.

I don't intend to buy any new dolls for repair until after ALL of my current doll projects are finished.

Decided the resin body i was going to put the cat head on was not the porportions i liked so now she is franken dollied. Not sure is i like this either but it is what it is for now. Trying for an annie montgomerie look.
