I've been happily watching your vods for a lil while now, and i noticed youve brought up a few times your love for ghibli movies! as someone who is currently on their own joyous mission to watch every ghibli movie (just watched and loved castle in the sky), i was wondering if you had a favorite!
o caught me before bed with an interesting one. I think honestly this is a tough question in some ways. Obviously everyone loves Ghibli who is of sound character and enjoys art in ways from casual to profound. I watched n' loved Totoro and Kiki's Delivery Service as a kid. But I was also literally precisely About 10-13 when Spirited Away hit US theaters.
Picking any favorites at all is kind of tough. So let me instead give you two kind of cheeky answers.
if you have a love of Miyazaki it is worth, always always worth seeing Castle of Cagliostro. It's not a ghibli at all! But it is his farewell love letter to the cast of Lupin III, a foundatonal series he worked on. I adore this movie, and it doesn't really need a lick of context to see.
But while a favorite is hard to pick, I think I have to say a word for The Cat Returns, and it's predecessor-of-a-sort Whisper of the Heart. Neither Miyazaki ghibli's, so i feel like they get lost in the shuffle. But they're both so wonderful to me. Whisper of the Heart is such a perfect couple-handful of summer to me. Being young and wanting to make art, and the beautiful rush, and the feeling of not knowing how to make something as good as what you imagined, and also trying to exist as a young human around another person your age sometimes. And then delightfully, The Cat Returns is just a good clean coming of age magic romp. Cats! Escapisim! The horrors of being a teenager and wanting to be a cat instead! It's very relatable.
also glad ya enjoyin da vods ✌️
