ADRIAN SISTERS??

ok i'm officially procrastinating now here we go

(cw: abuse, suicide mentions)

short version is adrian would make a great fox if he cared at all about sports

long(er) version: adrian is the eldest brother of three kids: at 23, his two sisters, zarah and rayne, are 15 and 10, respectively. adrian deferred his entry to college by a year so he could get through all the paperwork needed to become their legal guardian when he was (just barely) 18. adrian's mom had him young, and his parents only married because she was pregnant and not because they particularly liked each other. this led to the house overall not really being a warm family environment, but adrians grandparents (dads parents) were so dead set on this turning into the perfect picket fence home that they'd throw money at anything that got too messy. so they had a nice house, the kids got expensive presents (like drumkits) but the foundations were far from stable.

right after adrian was born, stuff was okay for a while before it got bad again, so the parents figured maybe they just needed to have another kid to fix their problems. again, it worked for a while, until about five years later when it got bad and they had another kid. when rayne was five, zarah was 10, adrian was almost 18, and their mom got arrested for something i haven't decided on yet, and their dad killed himself. adrian found him while his sisters were at school, called the ambulance, did everything right, and then had to go pick the girls up from school afterwards.

this was a few months after their mom was arrested so there was talk about the girls either living with their grandparents or going into foster care. adrian asked them what they wanted and they said they wanted to stay with him. so he deferred his college entry, losing his offer from Penn State in the process, and spent a year getting the girls back into school, working as much as he could and making something a little more solid out of the ashes of what their parents left behind.

time came back round for adrian to apply to college again, and he asked his sisters what they'd be happiest with. adrian had been sure about doing engineering school since he was 12, he'd studied his ass off and fought for this chance, and only a couple schools were even offering him the option to go a year late. but if zarah or rayne had said no, he wouldn't've done it.

zarah was old enough to say she wanted adrian to do what was going to make him happy, and after promising that he'd still be home every night, rayne nodded too. so he's never lived in the dorms at PSU, he goes home every night to make his sisters dinner and drives them to school every morning

it started out as a fic where he still gets shot in the head by ichirou, and flashes back to when neil goes to the nest, BUT it has evolved from there to a riko that doesn't get shot in the head

instead, ichirou makes him volunteer at a soup kitchen and bans him from ever playing exy again. the deal is that if he can manage a year without trouble, ichirou will let him live out the rest of his days in peace with potential to regain his exy privileges, but should riko step out of line he still gets shot in his head :D

LOTS AND LOTS of ocs involved in this; a homeless ex-exy player that is like super horrible at it and wants riko to teach him how to play again (obstacle #1 as riko names him bc he doesn't care to remember names unless they're very good at exy) a seamstress that consistently demands riko give her the food from the soup kitchen n equal portions or she will throw it over him (obstacle #2) and more people with Personalities riko cant handle

riko is not coping well. he bites his own skin raw because he does Not want to get shot. meets someone who matches his freak that is actually hired by ichirou to get riko to step out of line. they bite each other. freak4freak, they promise to get revenge on everyone that has ever done them wrong. ventures into near-cannibalism

i have a vague idea that he is eventually made to apologize to kevin, neil, jean, andrew, all the ravens affected by him, etc. and that that is what might end with him getting whammied

kevin thinks he has mini-riko back, is proven wrong when riko bites him -> his freak4freak would never mind being bitten but kevin does!!!! jean refuses to be in the same room as riko. andrew and neil come as one package and neil does everything to get riko back into his old habits
