Photographing live performances are just the best, just the best. My experience started when I’d photograph my daddy during his gigs (he’s a rockstar, I love him ✌🏼♥️🎵) which then led to photographing local and not so local live music concerts and festivals for music magazines. I love that you capture movement and motion, all the while being blown away by epic talent. One thing that’s a bit of a barrier though is that if the act or performing artist is just that good you kind of stop shooting and just watch in awe. Photographing @frankiefictitious in Las Vegas was like this, I had to remind myself to at least get a few images to convey her act, her story. I love Frankies performances and I love the massive cutie-patootie smile she carries with every act. She truly is one of the worlds BEST Burlesque performers hands down. Another act that’s stopped me in my steps was @kingsofchaos and @sebastianbach tearing up the stage performing ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ with other Rock Legends in Sydney for the Stone Music Festival. I kind of just stood there in the media pit with my mouth open, it went a little dry from memory too. Dry-mouth Davies they called me, dry-mouth Davies. @frankiefictitious performed this act to @defleppard ‘s ‘Pour Some Sugar on me’, a rocking classic. And you know what, I had a friend who sunk 3 bottles of lolly water (champagne 🍾) before slinging herself seductively around a pole on her back veranda several times to this very same song. Flinging her head around, running her fingers through her hair in slow motion and yeah it just wasn’t the same hey 😂 she woke up the next morning crying in so much back pain post performance.
