If you’re having trouble writing, whether it’s working on an outline, furthering a scene, or figuring out your plot, I highly suggest a change of scenery. This morning all i did was sit in my local library (they’ve taken precautions because of the pandemic and i was wearing my mask the entire time, don’t worry) with a different setting around me. It really allowed my mind some room to breathe.
Often, I think, if you’re someone who tries to write on a regular basis, or it’s a hobby of yours, your brain can become tired of the same information being fed to it each time you sit down to write. If your mind sees the same room, the same table, feels the same sensations and breathes the same air- if it processes the same information from every other time you’ve written, it can get repetitive. It can get boring.
So, if you’re feeling a little stuck, a little worn down, or a little claustrophobic (in whatever your doing, this doesn’t only apply to writing I think), take a walk, go somewhere new. Find some free WiFi or open your favourite notebook.
