FRANK SILVA
FRANK SILVA
31 October 1950 – 13 September 1995
Frank Silva was an American set decorator and actor, who is best known as playing Bob in the TV series Twin Peaks. Silva worked as a prop master and set decorator, and worked on David Lynch’s films, Dune and Wild at Heart.
Silva went on to work on the set of Twin Peaks, during filming, Lynch was upstairs in Laura Palmer’s house and noticed Silva working on set and realized that Silva would be a great asset in the show. Lynch asked Silva to crouch down behind Laura Palmer’s bed and to stare at the camera. Lynch at the time did not include Silva in the series initially, as he was not sure what role he could play.
Whilst Lynch was filming a scene of Palmer’s mother, where she was traumatised, Lynch was told by a crew member they had to film the scene again due to Silva accidentally appearing in a reflection in her scene. Lynch decided to keep the shot and instead incorporated Silva into the series. The character BOB was created, and Silva appeared in both the series and the film Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me (1992).
Silva sadly passed away in 1995, aged 44 from AIDS-related complications.
