I wrote down reasons why I like franziskay so much as a pairing so I decided to dump it here!! These aren’t even the half of them, by the way :)

OKAY SO I want to talk about why I like franziskay because I believe they work so so well together. They are so different yet so similar, even stated by Franziska and Miles themselves:

“We’re alike, that girl and I.”

“It would appear that because her father was a respected prosecutor… Franziska is sympathetic to Kay’s feelings…”

(Miles Edgeworth in aai1-4)

Another reason why I like franziskay as a pairing so much is the fact that Franziska and Kay are both willing to drop their emotional barriers for the other. Kay has a tendency to not take things seriously and Franziska rarely shows affection or care for others given that she grew up under the von Karma household. Despite this, both of them show how deeply one cares for the other by dropping these emotional barriers rhe SECOND one of them is in danger. It’s especially evident in aai1-5 when Franziska is accused of murder and Kay JUMPS to her defense, becoming serious about the case at hand and even telling Miles off when he gets sidetracked. In Franziska’s case, it shows when she finds out that Kay has been injured in aai2-4 and Franziska’s stoic demeanor immediately changes, becoming sad and worried and upset that something like that happened to Kay.

Okay FINALLY!!!! My last reason for now is the fact that they literallyyyy have my favorite parallels out of every single aa pairing….. both of their fathers were very successful prosecutors. Both of them admired their fathers greatly and wanted to fulfill their legacies, only to realize that those legacies were not what they thought they were. Both of them lost their fathers to legal corruption, albeit in different ways. Both of them decided to continue their fathers legacies but still carved out their own paths within them.

….. and that is why I love franziskay!! they would fit all the prosecutor x detective jokes that the aa fandom makes and they’re literally the opposites attract trope. Billions must franziskay

My mom and I were talking about Franziskay and she was having trouble wrapping her head around it because they were such different age groups to her - Franziska was a veteran lawyer and Kay was a teenager, and then I had to explain that yes, Franziska was a veteran lawyer, but she also became a lawyer at 12 because her dad is insane.

Hey! I know you write FranMaya in your story... but if you're still doing the ship meme and you feel like writing some FranzisKay... would you be up for Things you said after you lost the case? (If not, Franziskay, maybe Narumitsu?)

i’ve....never actually written franzikay before, only because i wasn’t sure that was a thing but. i mean there is no harm in trying? i hope i did it justice!

23. Things you said [after you lost the case]

“It’s not the end of the world.”

It’s...not. Not really, not any more, and it hasn’t been for awhile but this one was...was important. To her. Not to her perfect record, or to the office, or the clients, but to her. She hadn’t even lost to the WAA. She’d lost to a different agency. And it hadn’t been for homicide, it was a case involving embezzlement from a place Adrian was working at. Easy stuff. 

She was losing her ability to conduct a proper trial. She was losing her ability to lead the court and the case and be a competent prosecutor. She was...losing, and it felt awful. 

“You know,” came Kay’s voice from next to her. She didn’t look up to see her. Instead she looked at her shoes, and wrung her whip in her hands until she could will the tightness in her throat and pressure behind her eyes away. 

“You know,” Kay said again, “I bet you just need to get away from it.”

“I am not going to leave the court because I foolishly lost--”

“I was just asking if maybe you wanted to take the day tomorrow,” Kay said over her, before she could start shouting. “See the sights of LA. Get a sandwich. Some tea. Take a walk in the park.”

Franziska turned on  Kay then, her eyes fierce and angry. “You are a foolish girl,” she snaps. “Life is not foolish walks in the park, or dates, or anything of the sort. It is hard work, and long hours, and pouring over cases until you can fit where you belong Kay Faraday. I have no time for foolish one-on-ones with you or anyone else.”

“I didn’t say it was gonna be a date,” Kay says with a shrug. “All I said is you should take a day.”

Franziska pauses. She feels her face and neck heat up, but doesn’t say a word about it. 

Thankfully, neither does Kay. “Everyone needs a day off,” she says instead. “If you want to spend your with me, who am I to deny you? I’m pretty fun. I’ll see you at ten in the morning.”

“That isn’t what--”

“No need to meet me outside your hotel, by the way,” she says with a conspiratorial wink. “I know your room number. If I counted right, I’ll just slip through the window with a nice bouquet of flowers.”
