Highlights of last years competition!
So Baltimore was fun. A little disappointed we didn't make it to the final matches, but proud that we did much better than we did in Richmond. Plus, it was nice finally seeing Baltimore up and close (although there are some things I wish I hadn't seen).
So we finally got our robot to not only MOVE, but climb to the first level too. All problems are fixed (let's hope I didn't just jinx us)
this is about robotics so if you don't give a shit, don't read~~
right so we didn't win the frc alamo regional for robotics but it was one of the most fun experiences of my life, and i hung out with a lot of my team mates and got to know them better, and also met some homestuck-cosplaying people that are one of the coolest people i've ever met.
even though we aren't going to championships this year, i truly think that we were winners, and we were put into one of the top eight alliances, so that was pretty cool. The actual semifinals between the kryptonites and texas torques vs. team appreciate was really fucking exciting and i've never screamed this much in my life because the underdogs won the game team appreciate won the game fuck that was intense.
if you have a robotics team in your school, you better fucking sign your ass up because its really fun and its better than sports and i hate sports and its so fucking fun and i'm an introverted person but even i started to converse to people u feel me
i will not say what team i am in because if my mentors found my blog i wOULD DIE OK NO
Robots and Frisbees and Climbing, Oh My!
Okay, this year's game is completely complicated, well thought out, and unexpected.
BUT FRISBEES? I MEAN COME ON.
How does one even aim for a goal on top of a pyramid? On. Top. Of. A. Pyramid. WOW, OKAY.
I haven't even touched upon the fact that for a significant amount of points extra, your robot has to climb a pyramid. You're talking about a robot that probably weighs over 100 pounds on a completely different surface. Like, towers are different, but a pyramid? Watt. I'd love to watch inspection; all the inspectors internally judging teams with their over weight robots. Like, "Nope, not a chance."
I wonder if additional info is going to be released concerning coopertition, because that wasn't mentioned at all in the game animation. And the lack of Kinect was unexpected as well. Probably because very few teams took advantage of it last year? Huh.
I can envision a vigorous Build Season, but in terms of the competition, a lot of chaos and confusion. And a lot of opportunities to help other teams with repairs, because let's face it, there are going to be a lot of damaged robots with all the climbing and whatnot.
Good luck to everyone, especially members of rookie teams like myself. Team 3204 ftw!
