it was almost comical, really. one of the worlds most notorious hackers  --  one who has some of the  BIGGEST  names in the omnic crisis wrapped around her finger  --  still sleeps with a  TEDDY.  it wasn’t as if said teddy was one she had bought herself, no. she was too  MATURE  for something like that. this one held  REAL  sentimental value. one of the last things she had left that reminded her of her parents. of life before the war. something  SMALL  that she could take everywhere with her  &  just always have that  TINY  bit of familiarity. she wouldn’t consider it something like a security blanket,  &  it’s not like it was something she needed to help her  CALM  DOWN   (  that’s what alcohol was for  )   it’s just that bit of home that  EVERYONE  needs. some part of her holds out hope that hey, maybe it’s still just sitting on her bed back in her dorado hide out   (  hopefully with her tech  )   but she can’t help but feel like she’s lost it forever.  

she’s not sure why she’s decided to confide in angela of all people. maybe it was the whole doctor patient confidentiality thing that she could hold her to or maybe she was just  SICK  of being alone. especially in such an unfamiliar place. her hands were wrapped around a warm coffee cup as she watched the blonde, not wanting to offer up an answer to her question.   ‘ i’m not a child. ’   she doesn’t need  TOYS  to calm her down.   ‘ --  is it  WEIRD  to still have a teddy? ’   surely if it held the value hers did, the whole being a grown woman thing wouldn’t be a problem.

it is not very often that sally hears herself described as anything other than pretty. she was MADE to be pretty, after all. the doctor had created her to be a certain size, and of a certain disposition and she had always been described as a pretty little thing, a rag doll, nothing more than eye candy for the doctor as he lived out his lonely life, dragging her soul down, trapping it, trampling on it. it was often that she felt like she could not breathe when she was in that place, that she was worth very little.

she was not used to compliments on intelligence in any sense. the closest she can imagine, of course, is the doctor praising her when she first showed signs of having other abilities, of being able to tap into the fabric of time and see what was being stitched into it before it had actually happened. they were nothing more than glances, as untouchable and smooth as a polaroid photograph beneath her fingertips. THAT was a feat. he had not made that, he said, she had developed her powers on her own. 

she didn’t know how to respond when ashley, then, told her she was perceptive. and sally supposed that maybe she hadn’t known before because she hadn’t ever really had anyone to talk to but someone who was considered a genius. and he did not give praise freely, certainly not to the inner workings of her mind. so she felt a blush creep across her cheeks, pale fingers lifting to cover them, eyes turned toward her coffee room table. “ oh. thank you, i suppose? i apologize i am--- “ happy. i am happy someone saw me for something more. “ ---unused to compliments. “
