thinking about how even though Fitz the character and us the readers know what the name his mother gave him was, before he is pretty explicitly stripped of that name when taken to Buckkeep, and yet neither Fitz or the narrative thinks about returning to that name. Despite the fact that Fitz is forever wounded by his separation from his mother and longs deeply for the love and safety she represented in his life and just never gets over it, despite the fact that his life is essentially ruined by his obligation to the throne that stole his mother and his name from him, despite the fact that he knows all this he will always be FitzChivalry. He will always be the bastard of a man he never even met. Poor little Keppet.
