Rosie O’Donnell’s accent in this film just makes me ridiculously happy.

“Girls are playing baseball!? THE WAR IS LEADING TO SEXUAL CONFUSION!” Yes. Of course. Sounds right.

I love that woman for helping Shirley Baker.

I just cannot at all imagine Tom Hanks being anything like he is in this movie. I’m sure he’s not, but he’s such an obnoxious piece of crap in the beginning of this film.

I really hate that they’re giving this drunk asshat Jimmy the credit for the work Dottie does.

Poor Marla. I always want to hug her. They’re so mean to her, and she’s not even ugly. Assholes.

I want to kill this demon child. How can she not keep track of him and stop his mini-terrorist activity on a goddamn bus?

This messenger is an asshole. He tells the entire team that one of their husbands is dead. I hope he gets punched in the face. I know he’s fictional. I don’t care. Punch him in the face!

Awww, Bill Paxton saying “Hiya Cutie” just makes my heart happy.

“Avoid the clap. Jimmy Dugan.”

Lori Petty’s face is so excellently expressive. I love her.

I love the Racine Belles’ bus. “Racine Belles, dirt in the skirt”

I absolutely love this movie. The end always makes me so emotional. I’m so happy for them.

Fun fact? Lori Petty was the only girl on a boys' team growing up.

Another fun fact: Some of the extras in the stands and most of the women in the final scenes of them playing baseball as older women? Are the women from the actual A.A.G.P.B.L.

#popcorn #body horror tw #creepy face #1991 #horror film #american cinema #films i done watched #jill schoelen #tom villard #dee wallace #derek rydall #malcolm danare #elliott hurst #ivette soler #freddie simpson #kelly jo minter #karen lorre #ray walston #tony roberts #so the postmodern self aware horror films had been done before and would be done again and done better than this #but few have been quite so lovingly affectionate in their parodies of the horrors of yesteryear #the film itself is an uninspired and fairly generic slasher but the films within the film are gloriously affectionate #takes on the creature features and horror nonsense of the fifties and sixties (and especially of the marketing gimmicks of william castle)#whilst the whole package isn't exactly groundbreaking it's amazing that it ended up this coherent at all #considering the mayhem that was going on behind the scenes. the first director was fired during filming and replaced as was original lead #amy o'neill. schoelen is very good considering she was a last minute replacement. but its those films within the film that are the real mvp #oh and the effects work is suitably grotesque i suppose. also the film was shot in jamaica for some reason so the soundtracks mostly reggae #no idea why they shot it there. the twist is fairly good too and allows a previously sidelined actor to really shine
