Audrey Hepburn poses with an eclectic group of notables at the luxurious Maxim's restaurant in Paris for photographer Richard Avedon, August 1959. Seen with Audrey are Art Buchwald, a humorist best known for his column in The Washington Post, high fashion models Simone D'Aillencourt and Barbara Mullen, fashion and society photographer Frederick Eberstadt, and Dr. Reginald Kernan (who practiced medicine at the American Hospital in Paris until he had a disagreement with the board of directors, abruptly quit, and became a male model and actor instead). The glamorous evening gowns worn by Audrey, Simone and Barbara were designed by French couturiers Pierre Balmain, Christian Dior and Jean Patou.
