i sometimes am convinced my readers are telepathic and will guess plot points from the playlist. that is. obviously assumptive in and of itself cause idfk if anyone listens to the playlist. BUT. with that said. spoilers for future chapters under the cut!
one subset of songs on there are ones dedicated to the complicated feelings envy and ed specifically will have once they find out they are blood related.
overall a lot of the fic itself is dedicated to this, and envy’s redemption as a character despite all the harm he has perpetuated. this has been something that has changed a lot since the fic’s inception. it is obviously still an edling fic, but there is an emphasis of the ed & envy as well, more so than i had originally intended.
one song in particular dedicated to their relationship is into the open air from the brave soundtrack (by birdy and mumford and sons), for these lines:
I tried to speak to you every day
But each word we spoke, the wind blew away;
Could these walls come crumbling down?
I want to feel my feet on the ground
And leave behind this prison we share
Step into the open air
the first two lines are for after they are both aware but can’t quite acknowledge the reality of it, even though they need to more with every next day. the third line is them needing and wanting to talk about it. the fourth line is more for envy, and the desire he has to be treated like a real person and not a figurehead. aaaand the last two lines are the desire they both ultimately have to break away from the horrid system in xerxes.
i seriously doubt any of you guys are here for freedom bound posting but i think all my friends on discord are sick and tired of me running my trap about it so im going to start doing that more on here i think

The opening track Jaywalker sets the tone of the album -Freedom Bound – with Jane Chloe’s impressive vocals driving the blues, rhythm and tone the guitar bass and drums reflecting the purity of her gritty edged soprano voice. There is an irony in the lyrics and the licks played by Alex on guitar on Pension Bluessaying I will have to work…
