Not sure how I stumbled on WeWoreWhat but within a short time Danielle Bernstein has become one of my role models alongside Alexa Chung and Emma Watson. I felt I could relate to her through our similar names, skin tone and Nassau County, Long Island roots; also she values a good candid.
This past Wednesday she revealed her Freedom Found Topshop jewlery line at the Topshop on 5th and I didn’t hesitate to be there. The party was held in the small and intimate personal styling area of the store. Immediately upon entering my friend and I were greeted by a smiley Danielle in a black jumpsuit, NastyGal leather jacket, snakeskin boots serving as a backdrop to her entire line-which she was rocking of course.
I was taken aback by her line as it was very different from the usual gold and white jewelry she usually flaunts. The pieces were very reflective of the vibes of Istanbul and made me nostalgic for the view from the Golden Horn and the colors of the Grand Bazaar. Istanbul’s mix of Mediterranean, European and Middle Eastern cultures were eminent: a long silver chain with a silver roman coin, a Victorian velvet choker with a dark green pendant and a silver ganesh ring to name a few.
She glided through the room talking to all the fans who came to support her and let out an ecstatic cheer seeing my friend and I sporting her choker (immediately asking that we pose for a selfie). I can only imagine that her fan base will grow from here. Her ability to connect with fans and stay grounded is so mesmerizing – she posted a group picture, liked all the photos she was tagged in and even commented- and I can’t wait to see what she does next.
