When TVL Creative was approached to do the ASID Colorado's White Box Challenge they knew exactly what to make. They would return to their roots and build an architectural model constructed with tile. Here's the situation. Colorado ASID provided a white box, to twenty five participants, that was filled with tile, all different shapes, sizes and colors; and the participant was to use the tile in a creative way. Well, when TVL received their box they got straight to work on building a dream house that even Barbie would be jealous of. Using every tile that was provided this home came complete with a living room, bedroom, a grand staircase, a water feature, and even a sauna! Not a simple task, but the outcome was gorgeous. Then, on the rainy afternoon of October ninth, the crew carried this beautiful abode into the Decorative Materials showroom at the Denver Design District for the competition. Who knew you could do so much with tile? There were lamps, birdhouses, clocks, clothing, and even a cake and dessert station made entirely of, you guessed it, tile. It was amazing to see how much time, effort and creativity everyone had put into their pieces. We had a few hours to mingle, enjoy a cocktail and some food, and meet a team of volunteers from Freedom Service Dogs of America. For twenty six years Freedom Service Dogs of America has provided service animals to those that are differently abled and are in need of assistance. They are an awesome organization doing wonderful work. Check them out at http://freedomservicedogs.org/ The time had come for the announcement, excitement and anticipation abounding, they called TVL Creative as the third place winners! Our dream house made it into the top three! Barbie would definitely be proud. It was a great night of creativity, design, and conversation. TVL Creative looks forward to connecting more with the community and can't wait to see what the white box has in store for us next time!
