Just want to chime in my little 2 cents, and it’s perfectly fine if this is ignored. It’s also perfectly fine if someone wishes to point out if/how I’m wrong about this.
But.
Buuuuuuut.
I’ve always had a soft spot for South. She got majorly screwed over as far as Project Freelancer goes, maybe more than some of the others just because of the plain and simple fact that her and North were part of a psychological experiment. (Even though she WAS put on the AI transplant list anyways. The two AI Carolina took were originally for South and Washington so I can only wonder how far that experiment goes. Especially since they paired the AI up with who suited them best and North got Delta not because he was higher on the rank board but because he could take care of the childlike AI best. So if South’s AI had come out first, hypothetically, would North have been the jealous twin without an AI?)
BUUUUT my love for South doesn’t blind me, because I love North too. And I’ve seen him being blamed for “the screwed up mission where he used equipment in the field” and how he should have been the one taken down a rank on the board, not South. “He did worse than South on that mission.” No. Nope.
South was reminded several times to slow down and set her motion trackers and refused to listen before rushing in blind and that’s what ruined the STEALTH mission. I don’t think the Director punished South because of the “twins experiment” but because the mission was supposed to be in and out without anyone knowing the freelancers were there and she ruined that. I think that North WASN’T punished for using the equipment in the field because his actions brought his teammates and the information back safe from an already ruined mission. The second those alarms went off, was when I think South dropped a rank. I don’t think North was “rewarded” as much as bumped up just because someone above him was bumped down and that’s just how lists work when someone gets moved down.
I’m not really sure if that made sense, there’s so much happening in that scene and I’m not terribly good with words but all I’m trying to say is please stop shitting on North for doing his best to protect his team at all costs and please stop blaming the Director’s crimes on him. He was just as much of a victim as South, if not MORE considering she shot him in the back in the end.
