i got angry and wanted to talk
This is not the first video I’ve seen of this woman - the first one was the one that made her famous, where she talked about becoming vegan and all the cruel stuff the industry does to animals.
This is the second video I’m watching of hers and I thought she’d become smarter and a bit better at all this activist bullshit.
Why are we talking about high heels, comments on social media about how beautiful women are and other small things that actually don’t matter in today’s society? Hey, Freelee, you said it in this exact video - IT’S 2018. I haven’t researched this topic, but I do believe she has a point about the creation of high heels. But wearing them today has nothing to do with men being stronger than women and heels giving them the chance to show their power over women more easily because let me tell you if a man wants to rape a woman he is going to do it, even if the woman is wearing running shoes and he is wearing flip-flops. The problem is not the heels, it’s the rape problem in general.
And what about poorer countries where women actually STILL TO THIS DAY do not have rights? Will you pay for them to wear high heels so they can be powerless against men? What I mean is: They are not wearing heels, they are already powerless.
Heels, my dear Freelee, are elegant and sexy. If a man catcalls a woman because she’s wearing heels, the problem is him, not her. It’s the same thing as “I’m catcalling her because she’s dressed like a whore”, but the problem is with the man - women have every right to dress in whatever they feel comfortable in.
And why aren’t men wearing heels? Because heels are elegant and sexy and women, as the weaker and more delicate sex, are more suitable to wear them. And I want to put an exclamation mark on that “weaker”. We are not weaker because we do not deserve rights, we are weaker because we are physically weaker. Not all of us. But most of us. And of course this doesn’t mean that men can not wear heels - again, IT’S 2018. My dear, MEN ARE WEARING HEELS NOWADAYS.
Just to clarify my point because I went a little off topic: this could be counted as a feminist act against sexism in modern society, but it is useless to do so. Women are struggling in some countries of the world, women are catcalled all over the world, which sometimes leads to rape, women are still sometimes abused in their homes because some men still believe that women are supposed to stay in the kitchen. That’s where our focus should be. Not on minor things that don’t harm anyone.
Let women wear whatever they feel like wearing.
Oh yeah, the health issues I agree with. But don’t mention feminism only to gain attention for being “an activist”. You’re not an activist, you’re an attention seeker with morals in the 21st century.
