Probably a hornets nest post but with Freemance I personally stray away from them having ever met or interacted when Alyx was a child, which is an understandable ick to have. However I don't like when people also take great measures to just avoid mentioning the weird timeline-gap between them. I think there's room for some really profound thought and conversation to be had there, like Alyx's childhood was completely and utterly different from Gordon's, he functionally stopped existing for 20 years, he has stories about her father, Kleiner, Barney, all of which are from when all of them but him were 20 years younger. Once upon a time he was in Barney's age group. Now Barney's in his 40s and Gordon is, somehow, in Alyx's age group despite the time that's passed. There is comedy potential here also that I feel we are sorely missing.

Won't delve too deep into it but it's really funny having the imposter syndrome spirals of "ouhh I faking it I don't even experience amnesia that much let alone that badly" and then I blip out for a moment and forget everything I've ever reblogged or posted here.
