#FreeOurFeeds
I'm usually not one to make such posts but I haven't seen anyone else talk about it so here I am.
What is FreeOurFeeds?
Today, a group of former Twitter users who are fed up by the platform’s decline under billionaire control, are launching a new campaign to transform social media into a public good, free from profit-driven incentives, venture capital pressure, and politically-motivated censorship.
This is a quote from this article:
+ Pervert winter, robot accessories, Snoop Dogg's LinkedIn, buzzcuts to break the internet, and Elon Musk gamer stolen valor
I'm not a native speaker and bad at giving you the jist but I'll try anyway:
Basically these folks are creating a campaign to make bluesky not profit driven but user driven. They want social media to be free of corporate control and launch more sites to fulfill different user needs. They work with AT protocol which I don't entirely understand, but could be one day the foundation for a multiverse of social media platforms (think of the OPTION for interoperable platforms using just one account, I think.).
I think we all would welcome our online experiences not to be controlled by billionaires (Musk), capitalist ventures (Meta), advertiser friendly terms (unalive, grape, PDF File etc.), governments (tiktok), algorithms (remember when YouTube pushed alt right shit?), dumb as rocks CEOs (Hi Matt!) and shitty search engines (Google).
If you hate what Twitter has become and fear that Tumblr will go down sooner or later you might wanna give this a look.
Let's take social media away from billionaire capture.
