Podcast with Franco Bifo Berardi on the free radio experience Radio Alice: http://rwm.macba.cat/en/specials/radio-alice-franco-berardi/capsula
Radio Alice was created in Bologna in the late seventies by a group that brought left-wing activists together with artists who worked with counterinformation, or what Franco ‘Bifo’ Berardi (one of the core members) called ‘the creation of divergent realities’. Perhaps to the surprise of the powers that be, the liberalisation of the radio airwaves that brought with it the country’s first free and non-commercial radio stations soon gave way to a local, short-range guerrilla movement that ruptured the long, tedious monopoly of the state media. Radio Alice was by no means the only free radio experiment in Italy, but in spite of its short lifespan – the station initially operated from 9 February 1976 to 12 March 1977 – it had a strong influence on the social and political life of the capital of the Emilia-Romagna region. Reflecting the opinions, obsessions, and stories of its listeners and organisers, and establishing itself as a creative platform in the new non-commercial radio space, this small neo-dada bastion was an important piece in the jigsaw puzzle of life in Bologna, eventually amplifying the voice of the popular uprising and the clashes between students and the police in early 1977 (the chain of events that eventually led the station to be shut down). The strong personality of Radio Alice was more than just the sum of the points of views of the original collective (Franco Berardi, Paolo Ricci, Filippo Scòzzari and Maurizio Torrealta, among others). Rather, it can be seen as a complex collage of the ideas of the autonomous movement (which emerged in Italy in the sixties) mixed with the influence of the Situationists, the pre-punk seed that was starting to spread in Europe, and the work of Gilles Deleuze and Félix Guattari.

The amazingly talented and all-round nice guy Louis Tomlinson joined us backstage at Hits Live Birmingham on Saturday 4th May, ahead of his performance along with Ellie Goulding, The Vamps, James Arthur, Lewis Capaldi, Zara Larsson, Mabel, Tom Walker and HRVY.
Of course, Louis is a major solo artist now, with hits such as 'Just Hold On', 'Miss You', and his new single 'Two Of Us', but the 27-year-old will always have a place in One Direction, alongside Liam Payne, Niall Horan and Harry Styles.
As fans of the boy band hold out for reunion news every day, Louis revealed to Hits Radio presenter Sarah-Jane Crawford what he misses the most about being in 1D.
When asked the question, Louis said, "Probably touring that’s why I’m excited to perform today and excited to get out and spent time touring the world as that’s probably the best thing about being an artist."
Louis also revealed that if he could be another celebrity for one day, he'd chose his friend and 1D band mate Niall Horan.
He added, "I’ll go close to home Niall Horan, he doesn’t worry about anything in the world, Irish accent I’m not too bad I spend a lot of time with Niall."
AWW! ❤️
After dropping his amazing music video for his hit single 'Two Of Us' last month, featuring 83-year-old Richard Green, Louis confessed his love for Richard, admitting he's 'amazing'.
Speaking about Richard, Louis said, "He is honestly one of the most amazing men I’ve ever met, I was so in awe of him, 84, and to have that outlook on life he was an amazing guy, really funny as well."
🇳🇱 Toontje Lager - 🎶 Stiekem Gedanst
🇨🇦 Founded in 1978 in Wageningen under the name 'Maandverband', and a year later renamed 'Toontje Lager', this band was part of the revival of Dutch-language pop music in the early 1980s. The group released 4 LPs until 1984 when the band fell apart. During that period they had quite many hit singles, including "Stiekem Gedanst" and "Zoveel Te Doen". The bridge from the latter record was used for years for the #Veronica car program "De Heilige Koe". In 2019 the group was re-formed with only Erik Mesie as the original member.
🇺🇸 Margaret Whiting - 🎶 Moonlight in Vermont
Margaret was born in Detroit as the daughter of Richard Whiting, writer of hits such as 'Hooray for Hollywood' and 'Ain't We Got Fun' Her sister Barbara was an accomplished actress. Margret was discovered by singer-lyricist Johnny Mercer. In 1942 Mercer co-founded Capitol Records and signed Margaret to this label, Moonlight in Vermont is one of the songs she recorded for this label. It's an unusual song because the lyrics don't rhyme.
