#happynaijablog - #PHOTONEWS: #FreeSowore Now protesters stormed the Nigeria Consulate and United Nations Plaza yesterday, demanding the unconditional release of Human Rights Activist, and convener of the #RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore. _ A follow up protest has been scheduled for September 24 at the United Nations Plaza (405 East 42nd Street, New York). _________________________________ On August 3rd 2019, as you may have heard, Omoyele Sowore was illegally abducted by Nigeria’s Department of State Services (DSS) operatives in Lagos. He remains arbitrarily detained to this day. The DSS was granted 45 days to detain him, and as the 45th day draws near , we’ve received virtually no response regarding Sowore’s case. You may know Sowore as Sahara Reporters Founder, you may know him as a Human Rights Activist, or you may know him as a convener of the #RevolutionNow movement. But, however you came to know him, you know he is a passionate lover of justice and what has happened to him is injustice at its worst. _ What is more concerning, Sowore is one of a growing number of others illegally detained and held by Buhari’s administration. Other ‘prisoners of conscience’ include Jones Abiri, Dadiyata, Stefen Kegason, Agbo Jalingo, Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, among others, are currently held in various detention centers run by the President Muhammadu Buhari regime.
