Residence and Resistance | February 23, 2017
Dear Friends,
Most of you know that I have been “visiting” BAX this year. I was “in residence" from 2/1-2/7 and I can truly say that I would not have wanted to be anywhere else, from Artist Services Day, to AIR Open Studios, to spending time with the most dynamic staff I know.
We've also launched the First Amendment Sanctuary Spaces Project with our Board Member and Former AIR George Emilio Sanchez. This is one of the many ways BAX is extending itself to be the supportive home for our students, families, artists and audiences we hope to be.
I had so many conversations with colleagues and young people about their fears, commitments, experiences and perspectives on the administration, but also about how to build something we believe in and that incorporates ALL of us.
