I hate freestyles.
I make songs.
I write lyrics.
I make hip hop.
I make folk music.
I do this because there are subjects that mean something to me and I want to express them in what feels to me to be the most poetically cogent way possible.
In my opinion (which counts for so much) freestyling debunks the poetic validity of hip hop. As does most of hip hop, but that's another story.
The exercise of complete freeverse, without any 'prewrittens', is such a blood curdingly embarrassing waste of time that it can be quite upsetting watching people who have talent as lyricists forced into talking random bullshit.
Saying whatever comes into your head should be the preserve of the ignorant, drunk, sociopathic and/or deranged.
I am a lyricist and I approve this message.
