When they caught you taking selfie. Also women should not be shamed hiding their cleavage nor shall be treated like a harlot for showing one especially if they have a banging dress to wear. Hiding your cleavage is okay, showing your cleavage is also okay. Your body, your choice. Your simple movement towards the liberation against patriarchy matters. #FreeTheCleavage #Feminism (at Hiyas Pavilion, City of Malolos, Bulacan)
Public slut shaming and moral policing by public officials
So last week, I was running an important errand to grab my monthly packet from a food pantry. I had to put a large box of food in a shopping cart I had and apparently when I bent over some of my cleavage showed. The elder lady driving the bus had whispered to me about covering up, I guess to not tempt the men on the bus. I don’t think it was her place to tell me that. I tried to get in touch with my local bus system and if I wasn’t so poor I’d consider suing them or getting the ACLU on this. I have seen the bus services with their drivers in my small bible belt town basically tell grown adults to watch their language, tell them how they could dress, or speak to them about religion. I believe we have a constitutional issue with that. My town only reprimands the drivers for doing something wrong, not fire them like they should. Not only do we need to free the nipple but we also need to free the cleavage.
I did adjust myself for that moment but as a form of protest I did flash her my cleavage and my bra when getting off the bus. Slut shaming and body shaming causes a lot of mental distress on females. I know because I grew up in a family and community that did just that. In a lot of rural, conservative areas girls and women are shamed for showing their cleavage and pretty much any part of their body on a daily basis. I’m so sick of it. I should also be able to ride a bus home in peace.
