Is this Monday? A broker calls us yesterday with a load picking up this morning at 0900. It's a decent load that will keep me rolling through the weekend. I get to the shipper early and they have no idea why I'm here. Apparently the broker sent another truck yesterday afternoon to load going to the same place, but with different products. They don't even have the items on the rate con here let alone scheduled to be shipped. Nothing like driving 132 miles to have to start from scratch. That's one thing about trucking, you never know what the day will bring. Military efficiency combined with freight broker helpfulness always makes for delays. I learned long ago as a young PFC to hurry up and wait. After three phone calls to people who aren't even on this base, a promise to pass my number to someone who is and two hours waiting I decided to go for a walk. After asking people in two different random office buildings I was directed to an office where someone knew who to call. Now to wait on them to come back from a neighboring base.
