French youtuber : le Joueur du Grenier

The best way to learn a language, it’s to have fun while learning, right ? So here’s a recommendation !

Do you know le Joueur du Grenier ? (the Gamer of the Attic)

They’re actually 2 guys (with a lot of friends) who do funny videos about shitty games. They’re geniuses when it comes to comedic aspects, it’s just incredible.

Bonus point : all their videos have french and english subtitles ! So no matter your level, you can definitely give it a try.

If you want a look into french culture, you should totally watch both “Les publicités” (french ads). It’s the worst of french ads (but it’s hilarious).

One of their recent videos is about Harry Potter, and you should really check it out :

Their videos called “RPG 2″ and “RPG 3″ are also really good ("RPG 1″ is a bit old, so not as great). “Les jeux de COMICS” are great too, by the way.

In the metro today, a teen said to their friend “C’est le jeu ma pauvre Lucette/ It’s the game my poor Lucette (it’s a funny idiom that means “That’s how it is, deal with it”, particularly funny bc of the use of a very out-dated name) and the friend went “Oooh, ya serious? HAS-BEEN IDIOM” and then the two of them started wondering where the idiom came from...and they couldn’t put their fingers on it...

And I was the old dinosaur next to them who said “that’s from an old lottery ad, early 2000s I think”.

It’s a lottery ad with an old couple who won the lottery, and the whole point of the ad is showing that they’re so well-off they can travel anywhere they want without worrying about the cost of the destination. 

And so they spin a globe to choose their destination at random...and they get Australia...and the old man exclaims “Australie!!” and his wife yells from the kitchen “Oh no, not again” and that’s where the man goes “That’s what we got. It’s the game, my poor Lucette” (and then he suggests they spin the globe again).
