Well @robespapier went to see it in person and made a shocking discovery.

His hair is long in the back and kept in a plait.

You see a bit of it on the medallion though I never noticed:

I'm gonna go rethink everything now.

On the bright side this means the red ribbon style is now canon (though he'd probably use a blue one):

The world of possibilities this just opened.

Today is the day of the tilleul, so here's my town's liberty tree, planted in 1989 for the bicentennary of the Revolution, that also happens to be a tileul; a popular choice for liberty trees, like le tilleul de Pérouges, which is from 1792 !!

Only posting close up pictures, I don't want my town to be recognisable for privacy reasons.

I am sure there is some post on tumblr describing the statue of Convention nationale and concluding that it is not a portrait of Saint-Just, but of Hoche or Jourdan? I don't remember anymore. I can't find the post. Anyone help?

no worries!! it’s really interesting either way :) and hoche and sj look so similar, my brother saw the hoche statue behind this one and was like ‘omg it’s saint-just’ 😭
