French Billionaire Entrepreneur Xavier Niel strikes again!
After a very well organized and controlled buzz that lasted for months in France, Xavier Niel finally unveiled FREE MOBILE calling plans.
The January 10th show was very much in Steve Jobs style except that Xavier's shirt was white instead of black ... and that FREE MOBILE's web site was bugged and you could not order for two full days after the launch.
At any rate, his pricing is a true game changer and a nightmare for Orange, SFR and Bouygues Telecom, the legacy operators with their fat and cosy margins.
In this battle, French regulators and the government have supported and fostered true competition in the market place. It is quite refreshing and a step in the right direction toward a more modern France. For a change, the French consumer wins big time. However, some stockholders may cry come dividend season.
Merci FREE MOBILE and BRAVO Xavier!
