About the reversing, it made me think of the trailer for Skins US ( shitty remake of Skins UK) which was reversed too . Skins UK also used a Yusuf Islam (Cat Stevens) song in one of their most iconic moment. Perhaps it's a nod to the show which inspired Skam ? Watching Skam, a lot of moments made me think of Skins : the bench scenes,Vilde toying with her food on her plate ,the concept of one character for a season is like the skins one character for each episode , the transmedia content too...
I’m not sure: I never watched Skins. Did Julie say the show was an inspiration for SKAM? Because the bits and pieces I’ve seen of Skins have nothing to do with SKAM and how it portrays teenagers.I’m sure you can find parallels between the shows but Vilde toying with her food is something people with anorexia do and an efficient way to portray it on screen. Skins is not the first to do this. Teens talking to each other sitting on benches as well is something that seems too vague and recurring to be a nod in any way: when you’re a teen and you hang out outside with your mates, you sit on benches or on stairs or what have you. Also, Yusuf Islam is a famous singer who performed famous songs: I am not sure this is a nod to Skins. What seems “like” Skins though, in what you are saying, is the focus on different characters and the transmedia content. Probably yes. But I am not sure SKAM is giving nods to Skins. SKAM is very much its own thing. I’m not sure how much, if at all, it’s been influenced by Skins.Last thing: using Yusuf Islam (religious theme) performing “Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood” (prominent theme in Sana’s story) feels more like a parallel to how Julie used Nils Bech (openly gay men -> prominent theme in Isak’s story) performing “O Helga Natt” (religious theme).
