i do not write for boothill OR star rail at the moment, but the situation with that boothill slasher fic is mind boggling to me. it's as simple as this: not your cup of tea, don't drink it.

slasher fics are very common, and the kinks that come with it are, too. if you cannot imagine boothill in that role, don't read it! it is a work of fiction, and it harms no one unless you let it harm yourself.

would you be just as outraged if it was aventurine was a slasher/rapist? if phainon was? there are so many slasher and cnc fics out there of almost all the characters in honkai star rail. why is this one any different?

i understand that fics like these, especially with that kind of content are a touchy subject. i understand they're not for everyone. i was a part of a fandom that revolved around games that involved such topics and worse. i have seen worse things written, and i promise you this is such a non-issue if you just... don't read!!!!

i am saying this as a victim of sexual assault and rape. also as someone who is a very avid non-sharing yume who dislikes it when my (non-sharing) f/os are portrayed in a violent light.

they did not write it to debase and tear boothill's identity down. they wrote it out of inspiration for a very, very common trope, with very common kinks. this has nothing to do with boothill's identity as a native man.

things like these are what kills writers motivations. it is what makes people think they are disgusting for liking things such as rape, sexual assault, etc. in a consensual non-con setting. this is what drives writers and artists and any sort of creatives out of fandom.

you can dislike a fic. you can dislike the kinks and tags that go with it. but a smear campaign and going "please don't support this writer" after supporting them and cheering them on for a long while is not the way to go around it.

the reason fandom, especially something as big as honkai star rail, genshin impact, or wuthering waves (and so on) is a mess these days is because peoples constant thirst for drama and to weed out the next target. people will frame it as racist intentions, but they have already said their piece and made it abundantly clear that this is not about his race.

many people in this fandom, not just readers, but writers and artists too, participate in these kinds of campaigns. it is especially discouraging when another writer tears you down. or "prominent" figures of a fandom or sub-community in the fandom tear this down.

if you are truly that mad about this, vent to a friend. but don't go attacking poor sal any longer. this whole thing is ridiculous and no one is mindful of how they are talking to them. it is as simple as blocking if it disturbs you that much.

if you are mad that im defending them, block me too! block whoever annoys you. it's really simple.
