In folklore, a will-o'-the-wisp, will-o'-wisp, or ignis fatuus is an atmospheric ghost light seen by travellers at night, especially over bogs, swamps or marshes.... In folklore, will-o'-the-wisps are typically attributed as ghosts, fairies or elemental spirits meant to reveal a path or direction. These wisps are portrayed as dancing or flowing in a static form, until noticed or followed, in which case they visually fade or disappear.

REVIEW: Friars Lantern - Spaces (Single)

Atmospheric three-piece from Brighton drop single ‘Spaces’

Merging genres can be a dangerous game but Friars Lantern manage to amalgamate progressive rock with electronica as if it were a genre all on its own with ‘Spaces’. The band have come a long way since their formation a year ago, they seem to have found their sound - a mix between Sigur Rós and Nothing But Thieves and seem to be excelling as a force of nature during live shows.

‘Spaces’ emits a sense of dark clarity, with a spooky intro and a hauntingly powerful voice to match - the song evokes a sense of powerlessness and a lack of control yet it also contains a sparkle of hope to a lost wanderer.
