Thanks to Redheaded Stepchild for sharing my poem.
I can post this because I was literally the redheaded stepchild

Redheaded Stepchild has been good to me. Thankful for that.

That time Readheaded Stepchild published my rejected-elsewhere poem. So thankful.
VARIOUS READINGS OF CLAIRE, ALEX, & JODY BECAUSE HOLY GOD THERE ARE SO MANY DIMENSIONS
CLAIRE AND ALEX AS DEAN AND SAM’S PROTO-SERIES RELATIONSHIP
ALEX IS EVERYONE’S REGRET
CLAIRE AND ALEX AS SYMBOLS FOR COMPETING VALUES
AND ON YET ANOTHER LEVEL, claire is so incredibly cas it hurts. feeling excluded from the family? trying to assuage that pain by throwing yourself at a problem (either missing people or a soul-sucking force of massive power) in ways that just get you in trouble? nothing’s jumping out at me to let me sort jody and claire into dean or sam’s roles, though. maybe dean as jody–wanting to talk to claire, but not even sure where to begin? because JODY’S NOT HER MOTHER. and dean isn’t cas’s boyfriend, no matter how much he wants to be. this feels like reaching but i’m sticking with it.
AND ON ANOTHER LEVEL, claire as cas or claire as dean is very interesting, because in the cold open? claire is set up as the monster (who is menacing an innocent, as it turns out). lucifer, as cas, or dean, under the influence of amara, are the same bait-and-switch but in reverse–we think they’re innocent, our dean/cas, but–nope! they’re monsters.
