Adapting Poem - Research/Inspiration 1
I had a little idea of what I wanted my poem to have in it because when reading the poem in my head it made me think of a short film called Papa, Please Get The Moon for Me. which is a part of a film with other stories called The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Other Stories which contains other stories by the writer and Illustrator Eric Carle.
So I did a little research on the short film Papa, Please Get The Moon for Me and came up with this.
The story was originally published in 1986
Writer and Illustrator of the book is called Eric Carle, who is an American designer, Illustrator and Writer, born on 25 June 1929 in Syracuse, New York, United States.
The film was published in 1993 by UK based Illuminated Film Company which is an adaption of all the stories by Eric Carle
The other stories that are apart of the film are The Very Quiet Cricket, The Mixed up Chameleon and I See A Song.
The book and film is about a Little girl who wants to play and dance with the moon, she asks her papa if he could get it for her. so her papa gets a long ladder and puts it against the moon and starts climbing up to go to the moon but as he gets up to the moon, the moon tells him that he will have to wait for it to change in size so it will be small enough to carry. After each night the moon goes small enough to be taken out of the sky and given to the little girl to play with but the moon continues to change in size getting smaller and smaller until it is nearly no more and disappears as the little girl throws it up in the air. After this the little girl is very sad and makes her ways to the house and goes to sleep but makes up to see the moon back in the sky, bigger and better then ever.
