I walked for probably my millionth time along the crowded streets of Baguio alone. But unlike the thousand times that I trudged on these all too familiar grounds before, tonight didn't feel like I belong. I spent a long time away from home to the point that the once comforting environment is just a distant memory now. A lot has changed and I suddenly felt like a tourist in my own city, not quite sure if the many signs of growth here is a good thing or a bad thing. And it's depressing and overwhelming and exciting at the same time that after every moment of reminiscing, I'm left with nothing but a lingering numbness and a curiously raw emotion of confusion. I guess what I'm saying is, when I left, it didn't come to mind that the Baguio I was leaving will not be the same Baguio I will be coming back home to. And I'm not used to Baguio changing without me, evolving without me, growing without me. I lost the connection from the place where I spent most of the days of my existence.
